From quite a young age I have been intrigued by what people do at work and the buzz of an office environment.
I am not sure if it is common in children but I was really nosey when it came to my parents jobs, I always wanted to know what they had been doing during their day.
I remember regularly visiting my mum at work and thinking how cool everyone seemed; typing away on their keyboards, exchanging funny comments to one another, and always looking very busy. I must have been about 12 or 13 at the time and I remember whenever we had to leave, I would imagine myself working in a similar environment one day. You are probably thinking ok, forward thinker. Yep, that's me!
I went to university to study Marketing & Advertising and after graduating it took me quite a while to find a workplace that excited me every day. Then I joined the ACS family and that all changed. I have been here just over 2 years and I love my job.
So here are some of the personal reasons that I think ACS is a great place to work...
Many of the team have been here for 10/15+ years, including the company's first employee who has been here for nearly 21 years!
Work hard, play hard
The company is built on a great work ethic but there is also a great social side to the team.
The culture is open and honest. If you have an idea and are willing to share then there are always open ears that are ready to listen.
Since moving to Northampton, everywhere I go people know of ACS. The business has a great reputation and a dedicated network of partners.
I feel at home
This might sound like a strange one but what I mean is that when I come to work I know I can be completely myself. I look forward to my job every day and because of the environment, I am not afraid to do things based on my instincts.
I think with the way people work today it can be very hard to find a workplace that you feel settled in, so I am constantly grateful for the opportunity I was given here at 'ACS house', as we affectionately call it.
You are probably asking yourself, why am I sharing all of this with you?
Well, it's the new year and many of you will be looking for your first job, searching for a place to work where you can use your skills and enjoy the daily 9 to 5, or maybe you already have a job and are looking for a new challenge.
I would encourage you to have a look round the ACS website. Make yourself familiar with what we do and if the culture that we have here sounds like something you would like to be a part of then get in touch and tell us all about you.
