I am very excited to tell you that I am writing this blog standing up. That's right, for the first time I am working from a height adjustable desk. Check me out.

In the ACS showroom, we now have two desks like this and I have been dying to try one out. I don't know about you but I am not big a fan of being sat down all day. I am quite an active person, but like many of us, my job is office based so I spend a lot of time Monday to Friday sitting down.

As we know the workplace is becoming increasingly flexible. The domination of mobile technology and anywhere productivity means that business owners are having to think more about the type of furniture they install in the office.

The topic of height adjustable desks has been increasingly discussed over the last couple of years. We know that sitting down all day can be damaging to our health but I wanted to have a look at how a height adjustable desk could help change things.

1. Healthier Workforce

Alternating between sitting and standing is a great way to keep our bodies healthy. Sitting for a long time is proven to damage health and is linked to the increased risk of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. (Cheery I know)

2. Increased Productivity

Moving your desk to a standing position helps you re-focus which will enhance your productivity. I have only been here for half an hour but the change in my surroundings is refreshing.

3. It is exercise

When you stand up you burn three times as many calories as you would if you were sitting in your seat. A study completed at the Mayo Clinic shows that you can burn an additional 340 calories a day if you spend just two hours of your work day standing rather than sitting. (I'm thinking new years resolutions people!)

5. Happier employees

Simply having the option to stand for some of your employees will enhance their outlook on the workplace. It's no news flash that people's perception of where they work has a huge impact on morale.

I think working at this desk for parts of my day would take some getting used to just because it's new, but so far I like it. Depending on what your job role is you might feel differently, but I spend a lot of my day writing, reading and looking at a screen, and there are fewer things better for writers block than adjusting your surroundings.

So here I am writing to you from one of the new ACS height adjustable desks and I have to say, I have really enjoyed it. I might try working here for a longer period of time over the next week or two and let you know how it compares to just half an hour.

If you are interested in the benefits of adjustable desking ranges then you can speak to one of our specialists here or by all means, come to our showroom and have a look for yourself.

Time for a sit down I think ;)
