Local Northamptonshire charity Spectrum is an organisation that supports adults with learning difficulties and mental health illness. As part of its development, the charity has recently built a new "Skills Training Education Suite" at it's head office on Berrywood Road in Duston.
During the project, the CEO of Spectrum, Jenny Cotton-Howells, reached out to Daniel Walker, our Workplace Sales Manager, to enquire if we had any spare or unwanted furniture that we could possibly donate to the new space.
Daniel passed the initial enquiry to Grant Stewart, our Warehouse Manager to see if this was something we could help with. Grant was subsequently invited to the Spectrum headquarters to meet with staff and service users, and upon viewing the rooms he started to design a layout for furniture and storage requirements in the space.
A few weeks’ later the acs delivery vans arrived on site with a selection of desks, chairs, cabinets, cupboards and new reception furniture. Once the building work for the training rooms was complete, a team from acs arrived early in the morning to assemble and set-up each of the rooms.
"This single donation from acs has been beyond our wildest expectations and on behalf of the service users, staff, and Board of Trustees we cannot thank Grant and the superb fitting team enough for all their efforts. We look forward to welcoming the acs team back to cut the ceremonial ribbon, and are proud to name this area “The acs Training Suite”. We are hoping the team will be able to join us and we may even throw in some bacon rolls!"
Jenny Cotton-Howells, CEO.
The furniture that was donated by acs has completely transformed the new spaces into comfortable, modern and functional areas that will allow service users to learn a wide variety of skills in an environment that is comfortable and inspiring.
From all of us at acs, we would like to say a huge congratulations to Spectrum on the success of the new training suite.
It was a privilege to be involved in its development and we are looking forward to seeing the service users reap the benefits that it has to offer.
