You know that frustrating feeling you get when you lose signal on the move? It feels like you can’t get anything achieved and that productivity will just stop, well that doesn’t have to be the case.
Efficiency is one of the key drivers to success and those that are most successful will get things done, Wi-Fi or not. So here are some tips on how to be productive without it.
1. Get organised
Clean up your to-do list so that when you get off the tube, train or plane you are all set with your key tasks ready. Handy Tip: don’t just list the tasks in the order that they come to your head; prioritise them. With a long list in front of you, it can be easy to see every task as equally as important, you can lose sight of the priorities.
2. Clean things up
If you need to kill 10 minutes, cleaning up your computer passes the time and will leave you more efficient once you are back online. Nobody likes a cluttered desktop so organise your files into folders and delete everything that you don’t need. You will probably find your computer will run quicker after doing so.
3. Plan your free time
Take this time to focus on the week or month you have ahead of you. Look at your calendar and get an idea of which days are manic and which have more free time. Start planning time for yourself. This is just as important, if not more important than cramming your diary with meetings etc… we all need time to recharge!
4. Look at documents you have been putting off
Do the proof reading that you have been putting off. Without the distractions of Wi-Fi, you will be surprised how much you can get done in a short time.
5. Draft emails for later
If you have emails that you know need sending, start drafting them in a word processor. This way they are ready to send when you are back online and you have created more free time for yourself later in the day.
