The client

The Royal Air Forces Association is a membership organisation and registered charity based in Leicester that provides welfare support to the RAF family. Receiving no government contributions, the charity's work is completely funded by the generosity of members and vital donations from supporters to the Wings Appeal.

The Requirement

The offices that the association team were working from had become tired and were no longer suitable for the workforce. The decision was made to move to an open plan site, allowing the team to work in a modern and much improved environment.

The ACS Solution

After establishing the objectives of the project, the ACS team created a design that was specifically aligned to the needs of the association's workforce. The objective was to keep the space open plan with as few isolated offices as possible.

To start the project, the ACS team completed a full refurbishment of the building's existing electrics, carpets and cabling, as well as completing the full installation of a new communications cabinet. The internal ACS engineers also delivered and installed all of the new office furniture, digital wallpaper, and audio visual equipment throughout the building, which included a new Clickshare presentation system. All of the kitchens and bathroom spaces on site were also refurbished by the ACS team to ensure alignment with the new office space.

Throughout the project meetings were held every two weeks to monitor progress and, although additional work was required, the refurbishment was completed on time.

“As a charity it is important for us to remain within our budgets for projects of all sizes. Working with ACS we were able to create a more professional working environment for employees, which also offers us more opportunities to help our branches. They understood our requirements and created a workspace which will allow us to continue to help the RAF family well into the future.” - Nick Bunting, Secretary General of the Royal Air Forces Association
