The Client 

Specialising in new and used Volvo and Kia car sales, Bells Motor Group is a privately owned family business that has built its reputation on providing a personal service to its customers with integrity. 

The Requirement 

With 40 users split across two sites, the Bells Motor Group IT network experienced poor system and user performance. This was due to out of date software and a need for hardware IT infrastructure refresh. The existing network also lacked a coherent disaster recovery strategy. With no major overhaul of the company’s IT systems over 7 years, the stability of the network was the top priority. 

The ACS solution

ACS advised that the main objectives for Bells Motor Group would be to migrate into an industry standard ‘best of breed’ IT environment. An improved user experience with a more resilient network and a solid disaster recovery strategy in the event of system or site failure could be easily achieved. Another focus area discussed included ongoing IT network monitoring and service. Elements considered and factored into the new environment were; critical issue support, automation tools, reports on the overall network health plus the provision of 1st, 2nd and 3rd line IT support including on-site field resource. 

ACS recommended a managed service agreement for the core It operations, confident that this would provide increased productivity and potential cost savings moving forward, rather than continuing with higher ongoing repair costs for rapidly ageing IT systems. 

In addition to the proactive management services, the core infrastructure refresh was based on virtualisation technologies to allow for the future proofing of current systems, coupled with a faster route to market to new system implementations. Disaster recovery was built into the new IT platform allowing a failover from Northampton to Bedford sites and vice versa in the event of a site disaster for all critical services.
