The client

Founded on three core principles, quality through opportunity, respect for all, and know thyself, Harlington Upper School works to encourage life-long learning and to achieve the highest possible levels of success. The high achieving school has 150 staff and 1,400 pupils aged between 13 and 18.

The ACS solution

Harlington Upper School and ACS have been working together for almost 10 years. After 3 years of efficiently supplying various IT equipment, the school made the decision to adopt a managed service solution from ACS. As part of the managed service agreement between ACS and the school, an ACS employee is required on-site as a full-time IT technician and provides direct support to the school day-to-day.

This year ACS has supplied the school with a 3 year Open Value (OVS) Subscription agreement for it’s Microsoft licensing. The agreement covers all of the licenses required to run the schools servers and desktops. One of the key benefits of an OVS is that if the number of users changes for any reason, the school pay for an annual subscription which covers the entire site, so no extra licenses need to be purchased.

After recently looking into the legacy switching equipment at the school, which is more than 7 years old, the ACS infrastructure team is delivering a solution that will meet all the desired requirements. The project went to tender and to ACS’ delight they were given the opportunity. Stuart, the on-site technician, and the ACS engineers will manage the installation of the new equipment with as little disruption to the school as possible.

“Whenever we require an installation or additional work on-site from the ACS team they are happy to work around us to ensure that classes are not disrupted. As an IT support partner and supplier of our hardware, ACS has been brilliant. I would not hesitate in recommending their services to other schools and businesses.“ – Moira Boyle, Business Manager.
